The Sony 50mm Macro is a suitable option for photographers who needs to shoot close ups of tiny objects. This lens has been designed to capture subtle details with a lot of clarity. It offers full range focus and therefore it is possible to capture both full size and minute objects with ease. This means that you can get great pictures of flowers, insects and gemstones.

When it is used with a Sony Alpha Dslr Camera, the Sony 50mm Macro offers 75mm focal length which is equivalent to 35mm. This focal length allows you to use it as a midrange and standard telephoto lens. The focus length also allows you to capture image background clearly.

The build on the Sony 50mm Macro is impressive but there is a lot of plastic in its construction. The focus ring is broad and is made of rubber. It is easy to operate the focus ring but it can become unsteady in some instances. When the autofocus is on, the lens is decoupled from its focus gear. This lens can be extended when you focus at the focusing distances.

The autofocus feature on this lens works using a classic system in which you it operates through a drive screw on the camera. The autofocus speed on this lens is appropriate if you are not interested in getting fast moving action sports when taking pictures. When you are using the autofocus feature on the lens, it is advisable to use its focus limiter to get sharp images.

You also get a focus button in the lens and this can be handy in certain situations.
The Sony 50mm Macro has seven elements in six groups in its optical construction. The lens has seven circular aperture blades. Its minimum focus distance is 0.2m and it has a maximum magnification ratio of 1:1. It measures 71 x 60mm and weighs 295g. It has a non-rotating filter which measures 55mm. The hood on this lens is barrel shaped and it is possible to snap it on.

The Sony 50mm Macro is not the most unique Camera Lens in the market but it is a good option especially if you are just a beginner. It has an impressive resolution potential and its distortion levels are negligible. Its out of focus blur is good but the lateral CAs in its large aperture setting is not one of its impressive features. However, they are not a concern when you want to take quality pictures with the Sony 50mm Macro.
